Vicky Nissen

WebSite:  www.WordsWorkForYou.com

Location:  Marina del Rey, California

Public Speaking Experience:  Vicky has belonged to Toastmasters, Intl., for more than 20 years, as a speaker and workshop presenter.  She has won several speech contests and competed in the Finals of the District One Humorous Speech contest in 2005.  Vicky has performed Standup Comedy at the Comedy Store in Los Angeles and Martini Blues in Orange County.  In 2007 she founded a new Toastmasters club, Funny Bones, dedicated to creative and funny speeches.

Background:  She received a B.A. from Seton Hall University in Political Science and was a Finance major at Fordham University Graduate School in New York City.  When Vicky first entered the workforce, she realized she couldn’t hold a conversation without getting nervous and overwhelmed.  Her mind usually went blank when speaking.  She joined Toastmasters, and that’s when she realized how much she truly had to learn to overcome her fears and bad speaking habits.  Her rule is “Before you can become a speaker, you have to communicate; before you communicate, you have to talk with people”.  That rule has motivated her to give back what she has learned in order to help others be their best.  Through Vicky’s speeches and workshops, you can present like a Professional Speaker without actually being one.

Publications:  Vicky has written several articles for Toastmaster Magazine.  She was asked by AT&T to present a Web Training Program to employees over their internal AT&T Television Network.  Also, she wrote an article for the monthly AT&T Newsletter, UPDATE, entitled, “10 Steps to Presenting An Effective Web Conference”.  She has written the books “Small Talk is a Big Deal” and “Let Go and Let God, Now.  How to Attain Success Using Your Higher Power” as well as  “The Pocket Sales Guide to Pocket Sales”.

What Vicky offers:  Her main focus is building a foundation of natural communication skills through a series of workshops, exercises and Improv.  She offers speeches and workshops as follows:

Youth Leadership Boot Camp:  Kids under 18 will learn to organize a speech, speak before a group, maintain meeting etiquette, evaluate other speeches, practice gestures and vocal variety and lead a meeting.

Operation Team Comedy:  Corporate team building can be fun when comedy is involved.  Within the corporate environment comedy works to relieve stress, get employees to think quicker and “on their feet”.  Comedy opens up walls and creates communication bridges among people.  Besides, our 8-hour workshop is fun.

Let Go and Let God:  Vicky will relate her experience with the paranormal and explain the laws of attraction and why your Higher Power will lead you to success.  Yes, the two are connected!

Three steps from her UPDATE article, “10 Steps to Presenting an Effective Web Conference”, are:

  1. Learn to Connect Immediately With Your Audience
  2. Make It Visual, Not Wordy
  3. Stand and Have Fun

Present Like a Professional Speaker Even if You Aren’t:  Vicky shares her ten tips about learning to talk, communicate and speak effectively.  She’ll show you how to connect with your audience and make them feel your emotions.  She’ll teach the “Power of the Pause”….and more.

Areas of Expertise:  Presentation Skills, Speech Development,  Adding Humor to Speeches and Youth Leadership Training.
